The proposal to launch new residential, commercial, and industrial schemes in Gwadar was at hold for 4-years; the idea of new development and construction activities in Gwadar was shot down by the federal government.

The development had previously allowed the construction and development of approximately 100 housing societies, along with three public sector housing schemes.  The decision to prohibit these projects from developing was initiated due to Pakistan and China’s Smart Modern Port City Master Plan.

The directives of the federal government issued suspension on development to prevent any sort of unplanned and scattered growth of housing schemes and commercial projects in Gwadar.

However, the long-awaited moment has finally come to pass as Gwadar Development Authority decided to lift all types of construction and development,

It was stated at Express News that director general of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has lifted the construction and development ban and now the seized activities are set back in motion. Considering the problems that were caused due to the ban, there’s a sigh of relief for the trade sector and investors.

Under the new reforms, there will be no restrictions on residential, commercial and industrial construction, however an organized construction and development continuation will be set in order, under the smart city master plan for Gwadar. According to the smart city master plan, now that the Gwadar construction ban is lifted, economic growth seems to be very-likely in Pakistan.

Gwadar Development Authority has also requested government and semi-government to obtain NOC from Authorities to carry out development activities, ensuring integrated and organized development under Gwadar master plan. As ban on new constructions is lifted in Gwadar Pakistan, the bylaws of GDA in light of Gwadar Master Plan and the affairs of GDA were reviewed in a high-level meeting in the port city by CM Alyani.
